To add a SSL Site seal to your website, please follow these steps:
- Determine which type of certificate is attached to your site (see below if you are not sure).
- Determine which page(s) you would like the seal to appear on.
- Based on the type of certificate, add the following line(s) of code to each page:
- Geotrust (does not include Rapid SSL; refer to the steps above)
The seal will appear on your page exactly where you place it in your code. If there is no certificate installed the code will either display a warning message that there is no valid certificate or nothing (Geotrust).
To determine which type of certificate you have on your site, you will need to load your certificate, either through a browser or a command line utility and view the certificate information.
Internet Explorer
- Open your site securely, https://www.domainname.com.
- Double click the secure icon in the lower right corner of the screen ( ).
- The box that appears will tell you if you have an Equifax (GeoTrust) certificate installed on your site.
Netscape
- Open your site securely, https://www.domainname.com.
- Double click the lock icon located at the bottom of your web browser ( ).
- Click on the button in the box that appears to see the certificate details.
- Locate the "Issued By" details to determine if an Equifax (GeoTrust)e is installed on your site.
Mac OS X and Linux
- Open a terminal window.
- Run the following command: curl https://www.domain.com -v.
- The output will tell you if you have an Equifax (GeoTrust) installed on your site.
